Re: Icelandair
The problem here is that when an airline is at GLA only and want/need to expand capacity and frequency, they tend to start an EDI service. When an airline is at EDI only and they want/need to expand, they add a 2nd (or 3rd or 4th!) daily service at EDI. Iirc Gordon Dewar openly stated in a intervie...

Re: I wish I could fly/have flown to/from GLA but.....
A work colleague and their family have just returned from a long weekend in the Algarve, they live in Bishopton but flew from Glasgow East. That's another 8 passenger journeys subsidising the second city's airport. The key to any recovery of this traffic is understanding the drivers - flight timing...

Re: Flixbus Summer 2025 as of 17 April 2025
Im sorry, having looked at this and the schedule, theory, its utter drivel. Taking a bus from Aberdeen, missing most of the available flights, needing to pay £100 a head on overnight if that's your plan.. Take the car and park it. Cheaper and easier. Yes, just overlay the Jet2 schedules - only the ...

Re: The Glasgow Airport team is ready to Go For It at Routes Europe 2025 next week.
A quick question for anyone with the figures to hand, if you take the pax numbers for London flights away, what would be the total pax output for GLA? London being LHR/LGW/STN/LCY/LTN. Cheers in advance TOTA 8,064,791 less GATWICK 455,095 HEATHROW 953,371 LONDON CITY 207,739 LUTON 254,923 SOUTHEND ...

Re: PIK
Quite agree. It's a distraction and a money drain PIK doesn't need. Remove this and let the airfield flourish doing the things it's good at whilst making good money. If only the politicians in this neck of the woods could grasp this eh? But are passenger ops a net cash outflow? With the indirect in...

https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/canadas-air-base-in-scotland-glasgow-prestwick-airport/ Appears its not just the Americans. Article about the Canadian Air Force's presence at Prestwick and how it has expanded in recent years. I don't care if its political or military activity from foreign lands, if...

Re: AviAlliance sells 22% to Blackstone
Let's start a simple listing starting from 01 April 2025 (to exclude EDI-YUL) to track net route changes (ie + & - frequencies) and new routes secured under the three airports (GLA, EDI & PIK) . . . a simple speadsheet will do

Re: AviAlliance sells 22% to Blackstone
AGS has access to one of the most diversified airline mixes of any major UK airport, and the company’s recent capital improvements aimed at accommodating large aircraft pave the way for new routes and higher traffic growth. Sounds positive, although I'm not sure what the "capital improvements" they...
