This article suggests you can fly to USA from Glasgow. Sure you can if you fly via............ But then again you can fly to anywhere in the world if you fly via....... very poor reporting IMHO..

Assume they’re referring to the TUI flight to Orlando.

There’ve been a few articles like that in different papers recently. Seems Lingus is sending out press releases that you can now fly from Airport XYZ to the US and not mentioning it’s via Dublin and newspapers are just running with it as it generates clicks for them.

It’s nothing new, and it’s not unique to Aer Lingus. Most hub-based airlines promote their networks this way. They’re showcasing the ability to take you from your local airport to a wide range of destinations, not highlighting the hub itself. British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM, Air France, Icelandair, Emirates, Qatar, and many others do the same. I remember KLM advertising flights from Glasgow to China, Emirates promoting routes from Glasgow to Australia and New Zealand, Lufthansa highlighting Glasgow to Tokyo, and Qatar was advertising Glasgow East to Dubai.

For my still not booked trip to San Francisco and Portland I’m now favouring Aer Lingus over Icelandair because of the unpredictable US border control. Might be more relaxing arriving Stateside like a local.

Typical sloppy journalism - that’s what they want you to believe.

Sadly appears you’ve fallen for it hook, line and sinker.
