3% growth in February is quite underwhelming, particularly when compared to UK-wide trends and the performance of other Scottish airports. Three of Scotland’s five main airports recorded stronger growth, with GLA only outperforming fellow ASG struggler ABZ. Let’s hope that by this time next year, we’ll be talking about double-digit growth instead.

Sorry Clive, I'm failing to see how it's "not bad". A route that was performing consistently well is now down due to the launch of a self harming competing service from our dear neighbour. Additionally it's down v other UK airports. Struggling to see a positive here.

Yes, I thought that would peak some interest. But to know that 90% of the actual demand for this route has stayed despite the addition next door seems brilliant to me. Indeed it builds a case for massive expansion across Europe and North America in my eyes. GLA bosses should use it as a tangible selling point par excellence IMO.

I think it was to be expected numbers on the GLA service would go down a bit when EDI restarted. Iirc that happened before when the EDI service originally started a few years ago.

I would bet that if QR started GLA-DOH then we would see a similar drop on their EDI service - indeed it's down a bit in the face of EK starting there.

As Clive points out, the vast majority of pax have remained using the GLA EK service, which rather scotches the kind of claims we see elsewhere that it's full of people traveling to Edinburgh!

More widely, the growth numbers that were not that great, with GLA towards the bottom for growth this month compared to many other UK regional airports. Hopefully the new owners are working hard to rectify this!
