'Comprehensive Transformation' of terminal

Scotland’s second busiest air terminal is to undergo a “comprehensive transformation” as part of a £350 million improvements package for the three airports owned by the AGS group.

About time. Look forward to see it all come to fruition as well as many new routes and passengers to use the enhanced facilities.

This looks to be the real sign of intent that I'm sure we all hoped to see, and very positive it has come so quickly too!

There are certainly parts of the terminal that could be improved or tarted up, but the reality is that there is already millions of pax worth of spare capacity in the terminal and on the airfield too.
On top of that, although traditional airlines and long haul airlines present some opportunities, most of the growth available is from locos, who want fairly minimal facilities and won't pay much to use the airport.
I'd be surprised if the likes of FR, Wizz etc aren't expanding because the terminal isn't fancy enough, and we already know there's plenty of spare capacity.
So although I'm happy to see spending to improve the terminal - and of course there are specific projects or areas that might be urgent - surely the focus of investment should be on significantly increasing connectivity and pax numbers first, with most improvements/enlargement of the terminal coming after that.
As others have said though, it is good to see financial investment of any kind, and draws a major contrast with their predecessors who seemingly couldn't even fix the airbridges.

Textbook Scotsman behaviour, they start with Glasgow Airport, but can’t help turning it into an EDI love letter. Countless shoutouts to how Edinburgh’s busier, awkward flexes about its route network... it’s like they’re contractually obligated to remind us who their favourite child is. The inferiority complex practically leaps off the page. It’s like they can’t write about Glasgow without stroking Edinburgh’s ego. And the cherry on top? This is the same paper that, just two weeks ago, was practically writing GLA’s obituary, now suddenly they're all about investment and improvement. So which is it? Closing its doors or gearing up for significant growth? Making sense has never been The Scotsman’s forte!

For Iain - it’s all over Radio Scotland this morning and one of the aims is to reduce turnaround times for budget airlines - that will be a real selling point.
Not only that but they are targeting the Glasgow & west postcodes who are currently having to use EGPH because there’s no flights from here.
They are aiming for a best in the class pax experience which although not a priority for budget airlines per se, will help positively influence pax and airlines’ decisions.
They are aiming for 10 million pax within 3 years which is ambitious but certainly achievable. One piece of business could secure they in a stroke - landing a Ryanair base.

This is a classic chicken and the egg situation. Now is the perfect time to upgrade as disruptions will be minimized. Yes more passenger throughflow will be nice but then you have to work round that and possibly put off even more additional pax (you don't was the shambles that exists elsewhere). As has been said this amount of investment is the most positive sign in years. I don't thinks throwing 350 million quid away is in their business plan.
