Just for fun I thought about plotting an RTW trip with flight sectors of a maximum 9 hours. I suppose one could set themselves all sorts of criteria to plan a fantasy trip round the globe.
Anyway here’s what I came up with, with flight times taken from FR24
GLA-KEF 2hrs 0 mins
KEF-SEA 7.45
SEA-HNL 5.30
HNL-HND 8.43
HND-HKG 5.35
HKG-DXB 8.34
DXB-GLA 7.14

Nice!
I've gone a bit overboard with the stops, but it would be an incredible trip!

Re: Just for fun Round The World
I drew one up years ago which hit alot of major cities (capitals etc plus others) as well as alot of the islands in the Pacific

Re: Just for fun Round The World
Other criterias which one could challenge themselves with could include
Only lo co carriers (Pacific island hopping might not be possible)
Only narrow body aircraft
Touching all continents (except Antarctica)
Or far less interestingly flying entirely with specific airline alliances but that’s too easy
I think what makes it interesting is the element of challenge and having to research and refine routes to meet the test.

Re: Just for fun Round The World
There are certainly lots of interesting concepts to explore, and I plan to try some out and share the results.
On a related note, I've always liked the idea of a game I'd call "Skyscanner Lottery." The idea is simple: you enter your departure date and airport, for example, departing from GLA on 1st April, and book the cheapest international flight available that day. You then spend 24 to 48 hours in that city before taking the next cheapest international flight to a new destination. The only rule is that you can't return to a place you've already visited.
I've tried a few test runs of this, and as you can imagine, it could take you to some weird and wonderful places!

Re: Just for fun Round The World
Here must be the shortest RTW trip. ( theoretical only )
Gla - Yvr - Vvo - Gla
3 segments, each about 5K miles, and a total of 14,127miles
Ideal for those of us who like Winter Landscapes.

Re: Just for fun Round The World
With the current Russian overflights ban, you can do LHR/CDG/FRA/MUC to HND or AMS/CDG to NRT as a 2 leg RTW flight.
Leg 1 takes you down thru Europe, Turkey and into China before getting to Japan.
Leg 2 takes you out over the Pacific and up over the top of Alaska, Canada and onwards to Europe.

I'm sure many of you will know but the 2 major alliances have websites that help plan your round the world trips.
