Summer/winter scheduled timetable changes normally coincide with the clock changes twice a year - not so sure about the holiday airlines though.
Jet2s 8th aircraft should be back at the start of May.

TUI ramp up at the start of May with the current 2 737's and the 788 arriving, with their last 2 based 737's coming at the end of May.

easyJets 6th aircraft will arrive at the start of June

Its high time the management started proactively confronting the SG. They've been propping up PIK's terminal at GLA's expense and ignored a rail link to GLA but have been on board with the EDI trams or the likes of arms length organisations like Visit Edinburgh I mean Visit Scotland's bias. They need to make them perfectly aware of the damage being done, inadvertedly or not to the airport by their actions. To see such a dearth of activity in those times is appalling. A FR base and a rail link to the airport from the CC (which also encompasses other notable places like the QEUH, Renfrew, Braehead thus cutting M8 congestion from the east) would considerably boost things, at least 2m extra passengers per year IMO, maybe more, and its worth so much to the city and the region's economy

Heck, even if it means mudslinging at this point, whats there to lose? Its time the airport started standing up for itself instead of this passive approach which has allowed it to become a doormat taking blow after blow for early a decade now. Between the above, covid, APD, Brexit, the green agenda how many hits has it taken and just stood there timidly not fighting back?

The new AGS CEO seems fairly active on LinkedIn from what I've seen so hopefully he and his team will be engaging with whoever they need to be.

Agree in parts, except the allegations against the SG. Sadly it was a combined vote by all of the England-based unionist parties that forced the Edinburgh tram project through against the wishes of the then SG.

And for PIK they saved the site from closure and oversee it at arms length, with ministerial responsibility to the tax payer but commercial decisions are the responsibility of the management board who run the business.

But yes, we need a Ryanair base and some sort of rail link but GLA also needs a bus link to the city of Edinburgh in what would seem to be an easy first step to recovery.

For the record normal scheduled airlines operate a summer schedule from March clock change to October clock change switching to the winter schedule between October to March.

IT (holiday type flights) have a summer schedule from the start of May to the end of October with November and April being shoulder seasons, late Dec to late March ski season, the Canaries and Egypt operating from Nov to Apr and the Spanish Costas, Balearics* and Algarve taking a six week break from December to February mid term. * Balearics refer mainly to PMI which sometimes operates during November and from March but not always and not from every airport. Even Germany uses this main operating pattern now with PMI consigned to minimal operation over the winter ramping up again in April.

Cheers atuk. So there's a chance we may yet get busier into May. Why don't we offer some real cut-price deals to airlines for away based flying during these ultra quiet times? Maybe we do and airlines just don't fancy it, who knows? You'd think this would be ideal for the likes of FR/W6/EWG and the like, ultra low charges and relatively high yields by comparison and could encourage FR to base 1 or 2 aircraft in the near future. I may be over simplifying things here I know. :)
