All of their night stoppers have positioned empty back to AMS this evening, flights for next few days are showing as cancelled on FR24 and their Twitter feed is inundated with customers who have had their flights cancelled.

Anyone know how long they are suspending flights for?
From KLM website
Extra mandatory corona rapid test for travellers from Ireland, the United Kingdom and South Africa
From 15 January 00:01, passengers from Ireland, the United Kingdom and South Africa travelling to the Netherlands also need to take a negative rapid test. The test must be taken immediately before departure. You can take the test at the airport. Allow yourself at least an extra hour to take the test.

Passengers from the countries mentioned above need to have:
a negative test result (PCR test that has been taken within 72 hours before arrival in the Netherlands)
a signed and printed test declaration (the UK and South Africa)
a negative rapid test (anti-allergenic)
You are also strongly advised to go into quarantine for 10 days after arrival in The Netherlands.

For passengers from the United Kingdom, an NHS test is not permitted as a valid COVID-19 test.

Also, the advice remains only travel when it is essential. For more information, be sure to check the website of the Dutch authorities. 

A single daily flight appears to resume on Monday KL1473/1474

Thanks.
I'm assuming the airports can't arrange the rapid testing in time for flights over the next 2-3 days.

Not quite . . . but in effect there will be very few international services which could muster a viable load with these restrictions

Summarised from the BBC website :

Travel corridors will be suspended from 04:00 on Monday.
All passengers travelling to Scotland from outside the Common Travel Area must self-isolate for 10 days unless they test negative after 5 days.
They must also have a valid negative Covid test result, taken no more than three days before the scheduled time of departure.
Travelling to or from Scotland without a reasonable excuse is already against the law.
While some exceptions remain where people are travelling for essential reasons, that list of exemptions will be tightened.
The Common Travel Area covers the UK, Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

Without closing the Scotland-England border completely we are flogging a dead horse.

I think it's more complicated than people aren't listening. Compared to the first lockdown there are a lot more businesses and sectors that are allowed to continue operating now. One of the biggest issues seems to be people not isolating after a positive test or not quarantining after arriving back from abroad. This has been a recurring theme throughout the pandemic. We only need to look at how Australia and other countries, South Korea for instance, have managed their self isolation and quarantine to see how much better we could be doing in this regard.

Agree with all these ideas for the tightest measures but of course the idiotic right wingers would be claiming it’s a communist government and all that Trumpian bull instead of realising it’s to save lives and get the economy back to full speed an awful lot sooner.

To this day there are still Tory bampots in England saying lift the lockdown, let the fittest survive and let the virus weed out the weak. Hitler would be proud.
