Most likely the last time this generation of AF1 will be in Scotland. Not long till it's replaced. I'd say that's fairly special.
Cop 26 flights
Re: Cop 26 flights
Saying that , marine 1 is sitting at GLA as we speak , also another one at Leuchars ... prob spare at GLA incase a quick exit is required
Re: Cop 26 flights
I meant with regard to what Viscount said about Leuchars making sense for that president for the reasons he/she explained. Like would that not also follow for any other dignitary?

Re: Cop 26 flights
The Americans have some pretty particular requirements when it comes to AF1. One of which is a 30 minute pause to movements before landing or departure. This is why they stopped going to LHR and started using STN as LHR couldn't cope with the delays the airlines were then facing.
In June it was different as they were able to give AF1 a dedicated runway at LHR which didn't impact the other flights due to the pandemic.
It sort of makes sense if you have all these other world leaders flying in to go to the place of least disruption.

If they didnt use the 747 to get here, just think how many Polar Bears would be saved.
Re: Cop 26 flights
Interestingly the area covered by the Restriction of Flying Regulations does not include Turnberry passing just to the north of it whilst Gleneagles and St Andrews are included
