It will be interesting to read what the Glasgow EK pax totals are for December and January. I believe I’m correct to say that the Pakistani and Indian communities predominantly used EK for flights to/from Scotland. In a recent article on QR growth at EDI, the Pakistani and Indian market was the most under-used Asian market for QR. TK it would appear are now tapping more into the market with a codeshare agreement with PIA. How or will EK respond?Paris wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 5:32 pmTK & QR just happy to munch away at EK’s Scottish business like wee Pac Men … Low hanging fruit, easy pickings.southflyer wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 12:15 pm Lots of demand for foreign students returning to Glasgow and Edinburgh at this time of year. Re: Edinburgh
Having been on several EK flights in recent months I can anecdotally say they are ram jammed. Just back from CPT via DXB today and it was completely full in business and economy.
Re: Edinburgh
There's a guy on twitter gives loads on all UK flights for EK .. especially last few weeks NCL had better loads.. average since Xmas gla 361 daily, NCL 414 .. all 77W flights EK flights arriving in he UK, eg BHX , NCL ,STN etc .. GLA is certainly the lowest . I wouldn't believe GLA is the cash cow people hope it is

Re: Edinburgh
I think NCL is a 2 class 777 which explains the higher number of PAX carried.Ekally1 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 1:46 pmThere's a guy on twitter gives loads on all UK flights for EK .. especially last few weeks NCL had better loads.. average since Xmas gla 361 daily, NCL 414 .. all 77W flights EK flights arriving in he UK, eg BHX , NCL ,STN etc .. I believe our 777 has 360 seats split 8/42/310 which must mean if the figures quoted on twitter are correct GLA has been oversold.
Re: Edinburgh
Yup, our flight is 361 seats. So it's been basically full including all the premium seats. Sounds like a cash cow to me
Re: Edinburgh
Yes, NCL i onboard a 2 classs 428 seat 777, wheras GLA is 3 class 361 seater generally (though the 428 seater does appear also).

VY have also removed their ORY flights which were placed on sale for S23 a few weeks ago.

Lots of demand for foreign students returning to Glasgow and Edinburgh at this time of year. Qatar have been using the A350 on some days. EK in the past operated extra flights to GLA.

Well they will respond by adding the three extra frequencies increasing to ten weekly: double daily in Tue,Thu, Sat.
Like EK in GLA most flights full spans bursting at the seams. Now that the Antipodes are fully open again they are the main onward destinations but extra capacity offers much more for India,Pakistan Sri Lanka which are popular but eclipsed by Aus and NZ.
Now that China is opening again cue more folks for Beijing and Shanghai.
